Dubai sandstorm: Flights cancelled at world’s busiest airport ahead of Easter weekend travel – Middle East – World – The Independent.

in a storm, between snow and sand, i prefer snow.

i have known what it is like to be in a sandstorm. it is not for those who have claustrophobia. and you feel suffocated as well. i only experienced it for a short time, i was in a vehicle on a road tour of morocco, but it was enough. i hope never again, and so far, i have avoided a repeat. perhaps it might explain why  the middle east or sandy desert areas had never appealed to me.

when i read the article i thought that will make the easter getaway more of a nightmare than it is allready. allready we in the uk are getting reports of the chaos the easter getaway on the railways and roads.

so now this sandstorm will take air traffic into the net of traps that every easter ensnares the traveller. ( i wont say the unsuspecting traveller, because anyone travelling during easter should know by now that they will be delayed or stranded).

so far  sea traffic is not affected. come to think of it, i have never heard any holiday chaos with sea traffic. why is that i wonder? maybe because the channel tunnel had offered an alternative route to cross channel ferries and removed all that bother of getting on and off ferries so fewer people cross by ferries nowadays.
