Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukou) – Kyu Sakamoto (English Translation and Lyrics) – YouTube.

this is a beautiful song, it reminds me of my childhood, but the version i heard was a english version, i can still remember a phrase from it, ‘going to the movies’. or maybe it is just my child’s mind trying to figure out what was said so i can sing along.  haha. it is such a time of innocence for me. i just put what i think is said and sang them.

this translation of the original makes me realise the original words are much more poignant. it brings back many fond memories of my childhood. it does not say when it was first sung.

reading the comments it was a hit in 1963.

well, i thought since we are being nostalgic, i thought i shall search for alishan, another song that brings memories. i have no idea what the words mean. this version is a pleasing version. though i like the high note one here.
