i have eaten ripe peaches last week, bought from aldi, 50p pack (of 5) and they were so delicious that i went back yesterday to buy some more . this time they were larger and so 4 to a pack. i have forgotten how delicious peaches can be. though u have to wait till they ripen. when the flesh falls off the stone seed that is the time to eat them. peaches have such a strange looking skin. the label says they are ‘sweet love’ from spain, white flesh.
here is a link to 10 strange and rare peaches.
I ate them yesterday too. You like soft peaches or hard ones?
the hard ones are the unripe ones, i think. i used to like them, until i realise they are not so delicious as when they ripen a bit more. so now i like them softer, as that means they are ripe. take some pictures of the peaches that u bought , i like to see what they are like in china.
There are different kinds of peaches here, one of the called Shuimi Peach and hard ones are more delicious, they are already ripe. If you eat the until they are soft, that they will be toooo ripe. For other kinds of peaches, soft ones are more delicious. I did not took photo of the peaches yesterday, they look like yours too. I heard that the peaches were taken to the west from China via Persia at the ancient time. So I think China peaches will not be different from UK peachese haha.
i googled shuimi peaches, and they have speckled skin. peaches look so strange dont they, but in the end, it is the taste that makes them so special. the ones i had before i bought these have yellow flesh, and so look more like the traditional peaches. these ones i bought have white flesh.
Maybe you had googled a wrong photo, haha. Check this one, this is what I said hard is more delicious than the soft ones:

There are many kinds of peaches here, like you said, some of them have yellow flesh, we call it yellow peach, most of them have white flesh, and we even have red flash peaches here, we call it blood peach, like this:

Also there is a kind of peach which is with no hairs on the skin. Wooow, I am hungry now.
i dont see
any link appearing in the message, i see them now, the pictures come up in the message.. here in uk, the no hairs on skin fruits are called nectarines.they are a hybrid cross between a pear and a peach.found out they are just different types of the same fruit , one with furry skin, one without. yet nectarines taste quite different … or is it just me. hahahttp://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-the-difference-between-a-peach-and-a-nectarine.htm
Here I can see that wordpress had show the photos directly instead of a link, you can’t see the photos?
ya, i see the pictures now. looks very nice.
Since it is hot summer now, I prefer watermelon, haha.
galia melons are also 50p each in aldi, ( a supermarket chain).
You are lucky to pay cheaply for peaches!! I have tried doughnut peaches – seriously flat and ugly. I have tried china peaches. Big and pretty but crunchy and not as flavorful as Australian peaches or American ones. Come to think of it, I have not tried UK ones. S African peaches are tasty too. Hmm…our supermarkets have loads of choices. But not cheap!
the cheap prices are all due to aldi. in the past even when it is summer and summer fruits are in glut we never get them cheap. the supermarkets have a monopoly and so they keep prices up.but come aldi, lidl, and people now realise they are good value, and so the others have to lower their prices, and feeling the loss, with their profits down. i think the secret in eating peaches is to wait for it to ripen. it needs a bit of patience, as it is so tempting to eat them straight away.
Ha ha..I never wait for peaches to ripen. I love them crunchy and they are so tempting ha ha π
in the past i used to be like you, like the texture, but recently i have changed and discovered that the flavours and taste is overwhelming and rich, and so juicy if u wait for it to ripen. also they come off the stone so easily, unlike if u eat it not ripe.
You have tempted me and I will try once peaches are in abundance in the supermarkets. For now it is cherries, strawberries and blueberries π
