pancakes day today

made some pancakes this morning. i did a batch last night, and this is the leftover from there. it means i dont have to measure out another lot of flour and mix. it saves time and effort.

it is easy to make pancakes. and u dont need a lot of fancy equipment or buy special pancake mixes. u can make a variation, by having the batter spread very thin so that it is like crepes. which is what i did as i get to the end of the batch. its delicious.

i haven’t got the hang of tossing it to turn the pancake over. i just use a flat sided skillet and turn it. it may not look elegant, but then i dont get it folded all over itself or on the floor. haha.

actually i mentioned about measuring out the flour, but really u dont even need to do that. just add water until the consistency is right. and u can judge that by eye. i find a more runny mix is better , as it spreads better. and u can control how thick the pancake will be. and u can simply make crepes just by using less per scoop.

    That’s not a pancake – it’s a crêpe! 😉

ya, u are right, i tend to like it as a crepe. when it is a pancake it is too thick for me, and i lost that lovely crisp texture. i made another one later , which i did not take a picture of, which is really more like a crepe, it came out like filigree, lace like, and just the texture is fantastic. i think i have to confess to liking crepe rather than pancakes.

Sensible choice, not so fattening and far more elegant on the plate!

Looks yum!! Though you made it more like crepe. Pancakes or hot cakes are thicker! You should have it as a dessert with ice cream! 😉

yes, MElewis spotted it too, it is crepes- like, when i make it. in restaurants they eat pancakes as a dessert, with icecream as u mentioned. the hot pancakes with the cold icecream makes for conflicting sensations on the tongue, maybe that is why so many like it.
