london 11.41am 23C sunny with clouds. wednesday 2016

some strange water display going on with a helicopter hovering high above it. this was near lambeth bridge at about 7pm yesterday.

chatted with a guy who was also standing on the bridge and saw it, we were on vauxhall bridge. i was on my way to the tesco and he was on his way to catch the train  home, somewhere in richmond.

he comes to london 3days a week , he is british, but knows german and works using that knowledge of that language. he says there is not much work really, even though they tell school kids it is good to learn foreign languages. he says most german people who come to work in london know english very well. i have a feeling even in germany a lot of germans know english well.

just from my personal experience , though of course my personal experience of germans in germany is very limited. suffice to say whenever i go there for holiday, i have no trouble finding english speaking germans. u may think that is no big deal, but try to speak german in london, u wont get very far. haha. i would hazard a bet that u wont find anyone who can speak it if u perform the test  at random in london.

he asked me about the sakais in malaysia. saying he had read a book about a white guy during the war who hid amongst the sakais, and asking if the sakais still retain their way of life. he said the white guy was describing the food , and saying how fed up he was of eating rats. it seems that is the only meat available for  the sakais to eat.

we here are used to seeing documentaries of primitive peoples going on the hunt, and killing monkeys with blow pipes etc. but really in life, it is so rare, it might as well not happen. those hunts are put on for the visitors. just so they have something to film. the reality is they catch the rats and eat them. nowadays i think the sakais are relocated to villages built for them. at least my only experience of them is staying with one of them. their original hunting ground has been flooded by a dam, and they were all relocated downstream.

the news is all agog with the divorce of angelina joli and brad pitt. or rather i should say twitter. haha. it seems getting married for these celebrities spell the end. they were together for 12yrs and then they get married and bingo, it all falls apart 2 yrs later. maybe the lesson here is dont get married. dont know why it is so disturbing to hear of the divorce. somehow we all wished that theirs is a fairy tale couple who have made a success of their lives together. but it is not so. people are saying it is more noteworthy for it lasting so long… as they are so different personalities. its a pity because the children will be the ones who lose. nothing can replace being raised by a mother and father. i know it because i was lucky to be raised by my parents and it was a very good secure and stable environment that my parents have created for us.

addd. 12.52pm, searching in google for news of that water cannon display, i  saw a video of a bus explosion at lambeth bridge which turned out to be someone filming a movie, so i suspect that was what it was. at first i thought it was a exercise of a  terror alert mockup, a practise run as it were. they would have a nice backdrop of the house of parliament so that might explain why they chose lambeth bridge.

its all over twitter. i use a newsfeed and they link to twitter , that is how i got to find out. rather sad that they are splitting up. its looks likethey cannot agree on how to bring up the children. i am glad i dont have kids. but it seems to me real strange to fight over how to look after the kids.

They have a large brood of kids too! Sad to fight over how to raise kids. I find that for a marriage to work or any relationship for that matter to work, one must be the strong one and the other more giving in. But for this celebrity couple to split shows how much they put kids above all else. I suppose kids will split too and they will have their own set of kids to bring up.

she wants them all. it seems. pity that, because kids thrive if both parents are involved. mothers can get too micromanaging of their children, fathers can be too laid back, or vice versa; so alone, they can be really bad for the kids, but together the bad habits of one can cancel out the other. or one of them can rein in the other. that is why i think both parents are needed.
