the new plastic £5

london 8.50pm 10.8C dry. tuesday 2016

the new plastic £5 note has been out for some time, 13.9.16.but it is only now that i got it in my change when i went shopping in tesco . it is quite difficult to fold, as it wont stay down.

i read this article about a upside down £5 note. at first i thought it was really upside down, until i compared the picture of it with the plastic £5 note i got and could not see any difference. the note was just turned upside down , that is all, it is not a misprint. later i read the article and found out it was put up on ebay as a prank and still got people bidding for it.

the hologram saying pound can change to say five if u tilt the note . the serial number of this one is AC55 444875, the old note will stop being legal tender on may 5 2017. the £5 is not often hoarded.the £10 note will be replaced summer 2017. i dread to think what will happen when they replace the £20 note in 2020.

Thanks for the info that the old currency will phase out. I must change my old notes as I have some £ left over from last 2 years.

there must be loads of these notes all over the world, carried by travellers back to their home country. i remember i got loads of francs, lira, pesetas from europe, before they did it all away. i did not bother to change them, so i now find them cropping up in my flat now and then in old jam jars. haha. funny why americans still use the same old design for their currency. aren’t they afraid of forgeries?? it is the reason why uk keeps changing its design. but the americans dont bother. i wonder why? perhaps because the american money never gets returned to america. they are kept moving in all those tin pot countries all over the world and never used to pay for stuff in america. they will soon be found out to be false if they ever do return to america to be redeemed. and then they will be confiscated and no one loses except the person trying to bank the false notes.

USA prints too many to be bothered I guess as it is heavily circulated. You are right in that I have jam jars of different currencies and coins😉
