the doctor surgery has a system whereby u call it at 8am and u can get an appointment later the same day. so i did and saw a doctor at 2.30pm. she prescribed clarithromycin. as the swelling was still present, and some pain too. i can feel it is getting better so that is good. the old course of antibiotics has only 2 tablets left. this new course involves twice a day with food, instead of 4 x a day.

i am very pleasantly surprised at how efficient the clinic is. and very modern since it moved from an old georgian house nearby to these newly renovated premises. today it is the first time i was directed downstairs where they have another waiting room with more examining rooms. never knew it was that big a premise. it has about 10 of these rooms all told, split between downstairs and upstairs; though only one doctor was seeing patients in this downstairs waiting room. the main waiting room upstairs have more doctors seeing them. other rooms might be for the ancilary staff, because when i first came here, a nurse saw me in one of the upstairs rooms when she took my blood sample. today,  two guys came in later  whilst i was waiting and a nurse saw them. the whole place was airconditioned, cool and clean. which is real welcomed seeing the outside was so warm.

today has been very sunny and warm. which is nice. though the warm weather made me very sleepy and i slept after coming back from the surgery. and woke up about 8.30pm. such a lovely sleep. one of the little pleasures of life. haha.

i noticed i have not been shopping for 13days now. but my two friends, simon and john (my friend from the usa staying with me ) have been shopping instead. john made a vegetable stew which is most welcome by me as it means i can just warm it up with rice and have something to eat without needing to cook.

now i feel better, i have made  stew out of the pork that i had in the freezer. so even without shopping i can make up a meal from the freezer contents alone. with the induction stove, it is so easy to stew meat, just set the setting to stew and that is it. no need to hang over it watching it and rice is easy to cook in a rice cooker. and all automatic so it leaves me free to just do other things, which means  getting onto my chrome book and the internet. haha. people dont realise how easy it is to stew things. soya sauce is really amazing in that add it to anything and u can cook up something delicious without even trying.

You are very lucky to have a good clinic nearby that will grant an appointment on the same day. We have to wait a week to see our local doctor, or go to the hospital emergency room. Guess that’s the price of country living, at least here in France. Stay well!

that is interesting. we hear so much about how much better the health service is in europe, and hear so many say the nhs cannot cope. perhaps it is only in london or big cities that clinic like mine works so well; because it must be easy to get doctors to work here, rather than more rural areas. they also have a service where u can go there at 8.30am and wait to be seen in an emergency. no appt needed.

Strange that you were prescribed Clarithromycin or Klacid. I am given this for Bronchitis or chest or lung infections. My specialist told me that Klacid works well for upper respiratory tract infections. I hope it works for you. Take care.

it is very strange, i think also. from the leaflet that came with it, and am reading when i read your comment, it is indeed for upper respiratory tract infections. but 3rd on the list it is skin and tissue infections,(which from the swollen skin on my foot seems to that’s me. haha. 4th mycobacterial infections.
i got the 500mg tabs. whihc they say is not usual. so lets hope it zaps the foot infection and i am back to normal again.

Good to know 4th on list. Ha! My specialist zaps me 500mg twice a day for a week for bronchitis or URTI. Take care and hope foot swelling abates.
