watching the world go by

london 7.47am dawn dry 8C saturday 2017

i woke at 7am, and it was dark. now the sky is lightening  the sun has just risen. we will have another day of this dark mornings (correction, the clocks change tomorrow)before the clocks go back and the sun rise will be 6.46am. granted the evenings will get dark sooner at 4.40pm. but i prefer it rather than dark mornings.

sunrise 7:46 AM

sunset 5:40 PM

its very quiet here. no dawn chorus of birds unlike in the countryside. here in a big city the noise of traffic would take the place of the birds, but i live in a nice area which is not near a busy road.

one thing about early sunsets, you can sit out and watch the sun set earlier, and so dont have to wait too long to see it. i live just down the road from the river thames, and it is very mind calming to watch the sunset, and to observe the river flowing up or down the thames according to the tides. i think a tidal river is more interesting than a river that flows one way all the time.

added. 9.56pm 13.9C overcast. i thought i shall turn the clocks back now. there are only 3 clocks in my flat , my bedroom alarm clock, the kitchen wall clock , and a small clock by the tv in the living room. i turned back the time on the clocks to 8.56pm, but it felt so weird in the living room, with that clock telling that time. especially when i am waiting for 10pm to see a tv program so i returned the clock in the living room to its original time. i must remember to change it when i finally go to bed. but i intend to stay up late to see a horror movie. and even after seeing it ,  i will still have an extra hour’s sleep haha.
