must have rained earlier but i did not notice it. the ground is a bit damp when i looked out on the courtyard just now, suggesting it rained earlier.
i have been watching a tv program about male suicides. 84 suicides every week. it seems it is the biggest cause of death of males under 50 in uk. it surprises me because we dont hear much of it in the news. at least i have not seen any news headlines with the high rate of suicides. the telegraph, guardian, times, daily mail, papers that i read in the library, or online in their webpages never have any articles about it because i never read about it in there and i read these pages every day… unlike say a knifing death in the suburbs of london. we are getting quite a lot of that now… making it seem as if that must be the highest cause of deaths amongst young men… but no, it is suicide.

There was an art installation on the Southbank last year, with 84 statues stood on the edge of the ITV building to bring attention to these stats. .
i missed that, because i dont remember the newspapers publish that. just today i read in the daily mail online about 3 cases of women killing themselves. but never anything about men doing it. it gives a false impression that more women die of suicide than men when the opposite is the case. what shocked me is that it is the biggest killer of men under 50. yet no one make a crusade against it , unlike cancer, heart disease etc etc. i wonder whether they think it is self inflicted so not a disease.
Well they haven’t got the money for mental health services. Young women do attempt suicide just as often but are less likely to succeed
