london 1.09pm 9C haze saturday 2020

supposed to be hazy outside.

i wonder when it is a haze and when it is a fog, or mist. maybe just degrees of obscurity of the view. like for eg, it is a fog if it obscures the top story of the tower of flats opposite me, a mist if it only makes the tower blurry. as for haze i dont know what it is. haha. maybe the picture i took shows it.

4.27pm misty 10C

i have just been outside, just came back from shopping at the local tesco in vauxhall , and i would say it is misty. i think they should use the word haze to describe polluted atmosphere from fires, either from forests, or peat.

this misty weather we got now is just that… misty. from the combination of warm and cold air mixing and producing droplets of water suspended in the air. its got dark outside, quite a sudden change because when i came back it was still light. i went about 3pm to the tesco, because i saw from the website, it would be less busy. that means no queue to get in. i quickly bought veggies, and a cheesecake and a bunch of bananas and got out of there. i dont think supermarkets are hotbeds of infection, but i think all indoor places are best not to linger inside them too long. make it as short as you can because you dont know how good their ventilation system is.

Simply decorated. Is this always like that in your area or due to Covid, decorations are muted?

that vauxhall christmas tree is always decorated like that. they seem to place emphasis on a good large tree with full foliage and let that speak for itself.

I see. Thanks. So they don’t over decorate trees and let the pine needles show.

this one is unusual , because normally they do decorate with coloured lights. the only other tree i know of with plain white lights is the big one in trafalgar square, given to uk by the norwegians as a thank you for helping them out in the second world war. that one is always put up about 5dec.
