today, meatless farm, a vegan company is setting up a vending machine in the south bank, to give away free vegan sausage rolls.

it seems ever  since greggs started selling their quorn filled vegan sausages and it became very popular,  it seems to be very good, more companies are starting their own version.   so i went there to try it. the lady there helps with heating it up. but when i saw it heated up i thought i shouldn’t have asked for it heated. it was very soft and soggy and the crust is not crusty. i was thinking of a crusty crust . if they can keep that , they would be a winner to my way of thinking.

i think if u buy it from greggs, (they are a chain of bakery goods shop) it would have been heated in a hot tray and the crust would be crispy. but dont take my word , as i have not eaten anything from gregg.

the insides in this one is ok, and in fact, this kind of sausage  roll is very suitable for vegan versions because even when it is made of meat, you cannot tell it apart from anything, because the meat is all made into a paste and it is so well salted you cannot even get any meaty taste. so making it from vegetables is just ideal. it would be cheaper to make, and still taste salty and so like the real thing. i forgot to take a picture of it when it came out of the microwave heater in that vending machine. it would be better if that vending machine automatically dispenses a hot roll, then it would have been kept hot like in a oven, but i guess it would be expensive to keep all rolls at a hot temperature inside the machine and might over cook them too if demand is not high.

in fact while we were waiting in the queue, they have to stop the action when the vending machine ran out of sausage rolls. they have to open the cabinet and restock . so they could have just handed out the stock to us, haha, and we can give it to the lady waiting there to put into the microwave to heat it up if we want. but as a gimmick it serves its purpose, creating a queue and a visible demand. haha.

i see quite a lot of people out and about, and the streets are like normal full of people. and we are not even in full open mode yet. it is supposed to begin on 21 june, and i think a lot of people will be really upset if the govt decide to cancel or postpone it. people are getting used to going about like normal now, and to ask them to go back to lockdown will really bring on a rebellion.

it costs £1.50 in sainsburys, this meatless farm sausage roll. and here is a video on how it is made. here is a wiki link to what meatless farm is. but i still think buying the pork sausages is better value for money. for that same amount of money for one meatless meat sausage roll, you can buy 454mg 8pork sausages , and they are  72% pork. that is why i dont buy vegan stuff, why are they so expensive, that is what i want to know. veggies are cheap but the processed vegan stuff you get are more expensive than the meat that they are supposed to mimic. so why buy them, when u can cut out the middle man and go straight to buy the real meat products.

and now i think of it, you can get 500mg of minced beef (20%fat) for that same amount of money. and this is not even mentioning you can get lucky if u come across any that are reduced a third because their sellby date is due.

It has been a while since I read about freebies here. I guess it must be due to Covid that no one is out and about. I am glad you can go out now😃

ya, it looks like uk is opening up for business now. the hot sun is bringing out a lot of people and the streets are crowded again since the shops are allowed to open.

It is nice. But stay safe and mask up. In Singapore we have the B1617 variant and it infects and spreads very quickly. Hope you are able to be vaccinated. Sadly I cannot take Moderna and Pfizer😐

I love Greggs but only the sweet things. I eat like a child! It’s good to see companies getting out and doing these things though, makes life feel a bit normal again.
